Interoperability & Compatibility
Interoperability and compatibility are essential characteristics of complex, multi system environments where multiple platforms, subsystems, data links, sensors, radios and mission system components must operate together without conflict. AXIAH helps organisations ensure that their systems are designed, integrated and verified in a way that supports reliable information exchange, coordinated effects, and assured performance across technical domains. This requires early identification of interoperability requirements, clear interface definition, and structured analysis of how systems will behave within shared operational, electromagnetic, data and architectural environments.
Interoperability is not limited to physical interfaces or electromagnetic behaviour; it also requires data level compatibility, including consistent data structures, message formats, timing characteristics, and shared operational semantics. AXIAH supports the development of data exchange requirements, information models, and integration logic that ensure systems can share information coherently and reliably. This includes identifying gaps in data normalisation, examining cross system dependencies, and supporting customers in developing architectures that maintain coherent information flow between sensors, platforms, command systems and decision support tools.
Testing and assurance are critical for confirming interoperability and compatibility in real world conditions. AXIAH supports the planning and execution of verification activities, including interface testing, integration testing, electromagnetic compatibility assessments, and system of systems validation.
Throughout the lifecycle, we assist customers in maintaining interoperability governance, ensuring that changes to one system do not inadvertently degrade the compatibility of the wider capability. This includes supporting impact assessments, reviewing interface changes, evaluating new technologies or protocols, and ensuring configuration and compliance activities remain aligned to interoperability goals. Our approach helps organisations reduce integration risk, improve system coherence, and sustain reliable, effective capability across complex technical environments.
